Denver DSA 2026 Party Caucus

Denver DSA Electoral Committee

Interested in helping get DSA-endorsed candidates on the ballot?

Caucusing is one of the most important ways we can show up for the candidates we endorse. Join us for a Party Caucus training and learn what to expect from the Party Caucus process, how to sign up for it, and what actions you can take to support our DSA-endorsed campaigns.

We have three trainings available ahead of the beginning of caucus on March 3rd:

There are other ways for you to stay plugged in too:

What is caucusing?

Every electoral cycle ahead of the Democratic primary, the Democratic party convenes its members at several levels (precinct, county, state) to select their preferred candidate to appear on the upcoming primary ballot as well as elect members among themselves to attend the next level of caucus.

Since caucusing determines who shows up on the primary ballot, caucusing is one of the most important ways we can show up for our endorsed candidates. Our participation at this stage is critical to the overall fate of their campaigns!

Each precinct has at least one officer, all of which are elected as part of the caucus process. Precinct Officers (POs) are responsible for a wide range of significant tasks within the county Democratic Party, including appointing vacancies in the state legislature and endorsing future candidates for municipal office. ⅓ of all state legislature seats are appointed by vacancy committee, so filling POs with DSA members can be a surprisingly effective way of putting socialists in government!

Who can caucus?

Anyone over the age of 16 who was a registered Democrat as of February 9, 2026 is eligible to caucus this year. You can review your voter registration and party affiliation on the Colorado Secretary of State's website. Please double check your registration before filling out the form on this page!

When is caucus?

Step 1: County caucus

Step 2: County assembly

Step 3: CD-1 assembly

  • 6:00 PM on March 26, virtual
    • The State party will provide registration and attendance information to delegates elected at county assembly

Step 4: State assembly (optional)

  • March 28 in Pueblo, Colorado

Can't attend every caucus date? No problem; there are still ways for you to plug in!

If you can make it March 3 and are elected delegate but can't make subsequent caucus dates, we can help find a trustworthy proxy to send in your stead.

If you can't make it March 3, send a letter to the Denver Democrats letting them know you couldn't make it but are still interested in attending county assembly; you might be able to fill the vacancy!
