Gender & Empire: A Socialist Sunday School Series
We are excited to invite you to participate in four sessions of Socialist Sunday School dedicated to “Gender & Empire.”
The program, designed by our comrade Noor, allows you to build a theoretical and contemporary understanding of the links between gender oppression and imperialism.
For the first two sessions, we will read a chapter from Angela Saini, The Patriarchs (2023) a powerful exploration of how patriarchy is made and remade, and, from Kristen Ghodsee, Red Valkyries (2022), the chapter on Alexandra Kollontai, the Russian revolutionary and pioneer in Marxian feminism.
The other two sessions will help us bridge theory and practice through case studies from Armenia and China.
After the four sessions, we will have a screening of the movie, Salt of the Earth.
