Healthcare in Africa.

Before COVID-19, healthcare systems in Africa have been fragile. And now this unexpected pandemic further threatens the health and livelihoods of millions of Africans.

Health ranks just second to unemployment among the most important problems that Africans want solved. And with rising cases and fatalities, it is paramount that Africans unite to build resilient systems that ensure that we do not get distracted from achieving the Sustainable Development Goals — a world free from extreme poverty, inequality and the effects of the climate crisis.

I’m proud that Ghana is leading the way, and to see your personal leadership as Co-Chair of the SDG Advocates. Would you please keep up the good work and send a letter asking African heads of states to continue to strengthen health systems and extend health and social protection coverage? This would help ensure that every African has equal access to affordable high quality healthcare.

With thanks,

Oluwaseyi  Abiola
