July Volunteer Month of Action

Introducing OVRC's Month of Action!

During the month of July, the Ohio Voter Rights Coalition is introducing our July Volunteer Month of Action.

Each week, our team will send out new weekly challenges that volunteers can complete to receive points that will be totaled up after the Ohio Primary Election on August 2nd. Volunteers are welcome to complete challenges and tasks at any point of the month to receive points.

By the time of the election, our goal is to have spread more awareness around the Primary, as well as continue spreading Election Protection materials and hotline information at the grassroots level, especially in communities that could benefit from additional voting resources from us. We will have prizes available at the end of the month for the top point earners around the state. We are incredibly excited to amplify the election protection work that volunteers have been doing on the ground!

Don’t forget to join our Volunteer Slack Workspace (you get points for this!) to stay updated throughout the month and to share fun stories with other volunteers.

If you have any questions about the Ohio Voter Rights Coalition’s July Volunteer Month of Action or the weekly challenges happening, please reach out to Courtney at courtney@ohvoice.org.

Here is our first batch of challenges for the week. Scroll down to learn more about each task and complete them for points!

Become an Election Ambassador

Election Ambassadors distribute posters, palm cards, or yard signs featuring the Election Protection Hotline 866-OUR-VOTE and other voting rights literature to places such as barbershops, bookstores, churches, coffee shops, and food pantries.

Sign up to officially become an Election Ambassador for the August 2 primary through Action Network!

Join the OVRC Volunteer Slack

On last month's OVRC Volunteer Call, we launched the OVRC Volunteer Slack! Slack is an online workspace that will act as a "Volunteer Hub" for you to stay updated on OVRC news, get access to EP resources and voter education materials, and follow what other volunteers are up to around the state.

Join the Slack channel to be part of a community we are building around Election Protection and stay connected to other volunteers near and far who are also passionate about this work.

Submit Your Pictures!

As you are distributing voter education and election protection materials and talking to your community about voting, make sure you take some pictures and send them to us! Whether you are tabling at a farmer's market or block party, placing palm cards at your coffee shop, or talking to your neighbors while hanging up yard signs, snap a quick pic and submit it so that we can showcase our wonderful volunteers around the state. You can upload your picture to this form or email Courtney.

Order Materials

You are the best messengers in your communities! That's why we want to give you the materials you need to spread the word about the Election Protection hotline. We have various EP materials available at different distribution points around Ohio.

To request materials to distribute, you need to submit the Materials Order form and we will connect you with the closest distribution point for you to obtain what you need.

Learn More About Election Protection

Familiarize yourself with the Election Protection Hotline! As an Election Ambassador, you can help promote this resource to voters in your community. Whether they have questions about mail-in ballots, aren't sure about early voting hours, or experience any issues while casting their ballot, anyone can call or text the Election Protection Hotline at 1-866-OUR-VOTE (866-687-8683) to speak to a trained volunteer who will help make sure every vote counts. Hotlines are also available in Spanish, Arabic, and Asian languages.
