Justice for Home Care Workers

Justice for Home Care Workers is fighting for the rights of home care attendants in New York State to be paid for every hour worked, without forced overtime and mediation.

The New York Court of Appeals has recently ruled that attendants need only be paid for 13 hours a day, when the reality and expectation for many is round the clock care of patients. These workers are overwhelmingly immigrant women and women of color, who lack recourse to address this injustice as their unions undermine them by requiring arbitration and entering into agreements with Home Care Agencies to pay workers pennies on the dollar for backpay owed.

We are working for legislation that will support the establishment of a universal 12 hour work day, with full pay for every hour worked. End this wage theft of vulnerable workers now!
