Mobilize! The Federal Carbon Dioxide Removal Leadership Act.

OpenAir

The Federal Carbon Dioxide Removal Leadership (CDRLA) H.R.7434/S.4280 is new legislation introduced in both the U.S. House (Rep. Tonko -NY20 / Rep Peters - CA52) and Senate (Sen. Whitehouse -RI / Sen. Coons -DE) during the 117th Congress. The CDRLA addresses the problem of demand uncertainty for direct air capture (DAC) and other critical technology-based carbon removal solutions by creating a long-term, sustainable and publicly-funded carbon dioxide removal procurement program administered by the U.S. Department of Energy.

Starting in Summer 2022 OpenAir Collective volunteers across the United States will mobilize in their districts to educate U.S. Representatives and Senators about the CDRLA, and attempt to gain broad political support in Congress to make this critical legislation law.
