No ICE! Solidarity with Minneapolis Rallies 1/23
On Friday Jan 23rd, unions and community organizations in Minneapolis are engaging in an economic blackout Day of Truth and Freedom—no work, no school, no shopping—to fight back against ICE's brutality and murder of Renee Good. In solidarity with Minneapolis, we are calling on our members, allies communities rally with us on Friday Jan 23:
Hartford State Capitol Lawn at 4pm
New Haven Green at 4pm
Bridgeport Brien McMahon Federal Building at 4pm
Willimantic Jillson Square at 5pm *NEW TIME*
Our Commitment to Nonviolence
Our actions will be nonviolent mass demonstrations committed to the principles of nonviolent direct action; and the safety of all participants and the broader community, especially our immigrant neighbors who face heightened risks. Organizers are committed to deescalation when police, federal agents, or agitators attempt to disrupt our nonviolent demonstrations. If ICE or other federal agents appear, we will use nonviolent protective measures—including physical accompaniment, witness documentation, and de-escalation—to shield immigrant community members from targeting or detention. We do not cooperate with immigration enforcement. We also acknowledge that engaging in nonviolent protest without severe consequences is a privilege not available to everyone, and we stand in solidarity with those who lack that protection.
