NYC Central Labor Council Endorsement Process

While we will not endorse in every race, we invite all candidates to contact our Political Director and discuss our process. You can email lgomez@nycclc.org for further information.  

Steps in obtaining the NYC Central Labor Council’s unified labor endorsement:

  1. Reach out to the NYCCLC Political Director for an initial conversation on the process and to sign up to get our communication for the mandatory 2-hour Pre-Screening Workshop*.   2. Sign-up and participate in our 2-Hour Pre-Screening Workshop.   No workshops will be held after February. Once you reach-out and fill-out the initial form, you can sign-up on this page for the Labor 101 Pre-Screening VIRTUAL events.  

  3. Fill out a CLC Questionnaire. Any questionnaires submitted without these steps will not be screened until completed.  

  4. Sign-up for a screening interview. Interviews will be held throughout the months of January and February.  

  5. We will then conduct a survey of our Executive Board to determine labor-wide support. You must receive two-thirds of the Executive Board in order to obtain our endorsement.   You can find our list of Board members here.

  6. Once we have tallied our results, we will notify each candidate of our endorsement decision. If you have been endorsed, we will provide a high-resolution logo for print materials and a link to candidate resources on “all things” labor union-related.  

  7. We will roll out our endorsements, issue public statements/social media posts, and provide campaign contributions according to our screening/survey rounds. All endorsements will be finalized by mid-April.
