Ohio Election Ambassadors
What is Election Protection: The goal of our election protection program is to ensure Ohio voters have the information they need in order to cast their ballot this November. We work to minimize barriers to the ballot box, particularly for under-represented communities. By creating a simple and satisfying voting experience, we can empower voters and create a more representative democracy.
This effort is led by the Ohio Voter Rights Coalition, a network of nonpartisan voter advocates including ACLU of Ohio, All Voting is Local, Common Cause Ohio, the Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights under Law, League of Women Voters of Ohio, and more.
What is an Election Ambassador? Ambassadors are needed now through Election Day to help spread the word about the Election Protection Hotline 866-OUR-VOTE to their friends, neighbors and community members.
Ambassadors distribute posters, palm cards, or yard signs featuring the Election Protection Hotline 866-OUR-VOTE and other voting rights literature to places such as barbershops, bookstores, churches, coffee shops and food pantries. Resources will be available in multiple languages, including braille.
- Distribute Election Protection yard signs
- Distribute voter education materials
- Contact organizations to assess their willingness to display voter education materials
- Mail Election Protection supplies
- Provide virtual presentations about voting FAQs
Flexible Activities and Time Commitment: As an Election Ambassador, you will have the flexibility to volunteer for as much time as your schedule permits, and the option to choose where you want to go and what you want to do.
Training: Election Ambassadors will be offered a brief overview of the goals and activities of this program. If desired, Ambassadors can be trained on how to answer frequently asked voting questions such as updating voter registration, requesting and tracking absentee ballots, and referring voting problems to the Election Protection Hotline.
