What is Election Protection: Election Ambassadors are needed now through Election Day to help spread the word about the Election Protection Hotline 866-OUR-VOTE to their friends, neighbors and community members.
This effort is led by the Ohio Voter Rights Coalition, a network of nonpartisan voter advocates including ACLU of Ohio, All Voting is Local, Common Cause Ohio, the Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights under Law, League of Women Voters of Ohio, and more.
What are Election Ambassadors: Ambassadors distribute posters, palm cards, or yard signs featuring the Election Protection Hotline 866-OUR-VOTE and other voting rights literature to places such as barbershops, bookstores, churches, coffee shops and food pantries. Resources will be available in multiple languages.
Sample Activities:
- Distribute Election Protection yard signs
- Distribute voter education materials
- Contact organizations to assess their willingness to display voter education materials
- Mail Election Protection supplies
- Provide virtual presentations about voting FAQs.
On Demand Training: The first part of this training will provide a brief overview of the goals of this Election Protection program and some practical tips for how to be successful in carrying out various Ambassador activities. The (optional) second part of this training will cover how to answer frequently asked voting questions such as updating voter registration, requesting and tracking absentee ballots, and referring voting problems to the Election Protection Hotline. When you RSVP to attend this event you will receive a link to view the on demand training.
