Our Schools. Our Work. Our Union: Building our connection to build our power.
Our power increases when we act together
On May 16, 2018, we demonstrated unity between educators and our communities across the state. We carried that unity into our organizing work during the mid-term elections, in which we successfully broke the NCGA supermajority.
On May 1, we asked legislators to commit to our 5 demands for public education, then graded their responses. We can now use their words to hold them accountable in the struggle for a fair budget.
But how do we increase our unity in our buildings, our local, and in our communities so that we can we have the power to enact our vision for the working conditions we deserve, the learning conditions our students deserve, and the quality of life we all deserve?
This fall, GCAE is taking on the critical work of building our relationships in our schools and across our district to overcome disconnection and despair and build our power together.
Our goal is to complete 1000 one-on-one conversations across our school district in order to get to know the interests, concerns, and hopes of our co-workers and our community.
This page is a resource for that work. Please use the links below and the forms on the side of this page to engage and transform our buildings and our local.
