Convention is the highest decision making meeting of our local chapter.
It is where we decide on our political priorities for the next year, vote on leadership, discuss the main issues facing socialists in Utah, host organizer trainings, and build the community of our chapter. This year is especially important: The extreme threat of the Trump administration to working people worldwide and the low public approval of the Democratic party’s meager resistance means this is a historic moment we must seize. Salt Lake DSA is positioned to become a powerful, independent, socialist force for workers in our local politics over the next few years, and this convention is an important step toward that goal.

There are three main parts:

Decision making meetings, which take place at the Main Library Branch during the day (with a digital attendance option). This is where we will discuss the issues, vote on resolutions, and attend trainings. Day 1 is 10:00AM-5:00PM, day 2 is 10:00AM-3:30PM. The agenda will be posted ahead of time so you may identify specific sections which are the most interesting to you.

Social events happen in the evenings over the weekend. The main social event will be Saturday, May 10th at the Post District.

Asynchronous voting on leadership, delegates, and priorities will be ongoing most of the weekend and available to all members online. This way you may vote whether or not you are able to attend the convention, either physically or virtually.
