Campaign against development on County Hall grounds
Many residents, supported by their Green local Councillors Andy Ketchin and Lynn Wetenhall, have worked for the past two years to stop Devon County Council building on the site of the old Matford Huts, right next to the listed Coaver House. The site is down to have 3 storey flats on a site larger than the original Matford Huts site, right next to Coaver House. This is wrong on grounds of conservation, heritage and other reasons relating to the Council
What's going on now?
Devon Councillors agreed to sell this land in January this year, but Cllr Ketchin has persuaded the County Council to pause that decision, and bring to a meeting of the Cabinet in March. Residents, Andy and Lynn are now working to alert as many people as possible to what is happening and be part of the campaign to get Devon County Council to change their mind.
What can I do to help ?
- Come along to County Hall on Saturday February 28th 4.00pm to be part of a 'mass photo'. We want good images to share on social media to show the strength of feeling by local residents and to use the image in the social media side of our campaign.
- On the morning of March 12th, Devon County's Cabinet is likely to be meeting to make a decision on whether to put the site up for sale. We want as many people as possible to be at County Hall when the Cabinet meets, to show the strength of local feeling. The media will be there if they think that lots of residents will be there before the meeting. XXXX
