The problem: New Yorkers are struggling with ever-rising energy bills, polluted air that makes us sick, and extreme heat, wildfires, storms, and floods that have devastated our communities. While corporate polluters profit, we’re footing the bill with our wallets and lives. At the same time, the Trump administration is attacking climate action on all fronts by slashing federal funding and trying to kill climate programs and regulations.
The solution: We need bold leadership and powerful environmental regulations from New York’s state government, including a strong cap-and-invest program, which would cap emissions and make corporate polluters pay to invest in our communities. An economy-wide cap-and-invest program was one of the core promises of our 2019 Climate Act, and in this time of political and climate chaos, there’s no more room for half-measures or delays in its implementation.
Join us: Join hundreds of New Yorkers near you at a state hearing on how major polluters report their greenhouse gas emissions. We'll be calling on Governor Hochul to release the full suite of draft regulations for New York’s cap-and-invest program to make corporations pay for their pollution and direct the funds this raises back to New York households to lower our energy bills, create good jobs, and clean our air to improve our health!
