The Trump administration wants to open up our coasts to oil drilling, but the agency in charge will not be hosting any public meetings to inform the public or gather input. So we are taking matters into our own hands, and hosting the people's hearings to ensure that our voices are heard in support of the protection of our coasts.
In response to the Trump administration's dangerous offshore drilling proposal, a coalition of environmental groups is organizing a series of people's hearings events in California. The events bring together elected leaders, community groups, businesses, Tribes, stakeholders, and the public to learn about the issue and express public opposition to the federal offshore drilling plan. Please see the calendar of upcoming events below.
Core partners include Surfrider, Center for Biological Diversity, and local partners for each stop.
Hearings have already been held in Santa Cruz, San Diego and Orange County, with more being planned in Sacramento, Monterey, Santa Barbara, Sausalito and Eureka. A virtual statewide mass call is also taking place on January 14th.
