10/16 #DefundNYPD Tabling in Harlem

Start: Saturday, October 17, 202012:00 PM

Join Bronx/Upper Manhattan DSA and the NYC-DSA Racial Justice Working Group on Friday, October 16 from 12-1pm and then again from 4-6pm as we connect with neighbors around our demand to defund the NYPD and invest those funds in our communities and invite them to join us at the Mass March to Defund NYPD, Tax the Rich, and Stop the Layoffs on 10/17.

The services and programs that supported and protected working New Yorkers were inadequate before COVID-19. And now Mayor de Blasio’s budget cuts millions from schools, hospitals, and sanitation, and calls for 22,000 EMTs, teachers, and other city workers to be laid off but protects the NYPD’s enormous budget and even hires new police recruits. Our communities have been defunded for too long - we say enough! It’s time to defund the police and fund housing, healthcare, education, employment, and more.

We’ll meet at the corner of 125th and Malcom X and kick things off with a brief training and conversation about our campaign before heading into the streets to have these important conversations. Never done anything like this before? No worries. We’ll make sure to answer your questions and send you out with a partner, if you prefer. Make sure to wear a mask!
