Register now for the Defend Public Health General Assembly, June 2, from 5 pm to 6:30 pm ET: 45 years of HIV/AIDS: Activism, Organizing, and Building a Public Health Response. Now What?

On June 5, 1981, CDC published the first MMWR on AIDS titled "Pneumocystis Pneumonia-Los Angeles". It described 5 cases of a rare lung infection in young, previously healthy gay men - the first official report of what became known as AIDS.

45 years later, where have we been and where are we now?

Defend Public Health is a proud sponsor of 7 Days in June: Health is Primary, a national, weeklong series of events to spotlight the destruction at the hands of this administration of public health systems, health care affordability and access, biomedical research and so much more.

As part of this decentralized week of action, Defend Public Health wants to take a moment to reflect, focus and re-energize our communities on the AIDS movement, where many among us became forever activists. While a couple of our guest speakers are still being nailed down, please save the date and register now to join us. It is important to remember - remember the past and remember that it is not over. The struggle continues.
