6/6 FUSD Board Meeting: Sex Ed Curriculum Task Force

Start: Wednesday, June 06, 2018 6:45 PM

Over the past few months, the FUSD school board has voted to delay 4th and 5th grade sex ed, deciding instead to create a new sex ed curriculum task force. This task force will meet over the next 6 months to search for an existing, available, and legally-compliant sex ed curriculum for grades 4th-9th. Instruction for this curriculum will begin in Spring of 2019.

The bylaws for this task force will be set at this week’s school board meeting! We are grateful to Trustee Crosbie, Trustee Campbell, and Dr. Wallace for their hard work in making sure that multiple stakeholders will be represented.

As the bylaws currently are, however, there is no requirement that the task force include at least one member of the LGTBQ+ community. There is also no requirement that the 10 parents on the committee be culturally, ethnically, and geographically representative of the district.

Take a look at the current bylaws under agenda item 14.5 and take note of what you believe is missing! And then join us to express your thoughts:
