About our Speaker
Chris Rhie is a renowned urban planning and climate change consultant. With a background in public policy, urban design, and environmental management, Chris works with local governments, universities, and non-profit organizations across the United States to develop sustainable infrastructure and environmental policy frameworks. He led the consultant teams for New York City’s first comprehensive environmental justice report and the award-winning Los Angeles Countywide Sustainability Plan – widely recognized as the nation’s boldest, most inclusive regional sustainability strategy. Prior to his experience as a strategy consultant, Chris served as an energy manager at the Cities of Oakland and New York.
Chris serves on the boards of the LA County Chief Sustainability Officer Taskforce, Urban Environmentalists, and the Westside Urban Forum, and has previously served as an advisor to the Los Angeles Cool City Challenge Moonshot Team and the US Green Building Council’s LEED for Cities and Communities Working Group. He was recently recognized as Coro Southern California’s 2022 Lead LA Alumni Honoree, and is a Senior Fellow at the USC Marshall Brittingham Social Enterprise Lab. A second generation Korean American and resident of Los Angeles, Chris holds master’s degrees in city planning and real estate development from MIT.
