If you’re interested in starting a sustained abolitionist project and want to join a network of organizers experimenting with forms of abolitionist basebuilding, join comrades from across the city for a new training and gathering, Abolition On Your Block! The first in-person training was a huge success, and now we’re offering it virtually with an opportunity to plug into ongoing work.

Abolition seeks to transform our social relations by investing in life-giving institutions while simultaneously destroying the carceral state that allows for the reproduction of capitalism. It’s a huge task with a grand horizon, but it’s also something that can be practiced every day - and only through this practice will the horizon be possible.

But how do we build lasting abolitionist institutions? We must carry out a rigorous process of investigation and experimentation through community safety projects, jail and prison support systems for criminalized and incarcerated people, peer respite collectives, and more.
