ADA35 - 35th Anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act - Rally and March!

Start: Saturday, July 26, 202511:00 AM

End: Saturday, July 26, 202501:00 PM

The event will begin with a 20-minute rally at Washington Square Park led by speakers with disabilities. Then we will march up University Place ending at Union Square Park.

The ADA35 Rally and March is sparked in response to the United States' current administration's attacks on laws upholding rights for people with disabilities. As such, we insist on protecting Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 which makes our lives vibrant and equal. ADA35: The Future is Disabled, is a coalition of many groups and is for everyone.

We joyfully promote disability justice and intersectionality for people with disabilities of all races, genders, sexualities, and religions. We celebrate intersections between, but not limited to, visible and invisible, physical, cognitive, and mental health disabilities as well as non-neurotypical folks.

DEMANDS AND FOCUS OF THE ACTION:

● That People With Disabilities (PWD) be involved in all decisions and lawmaking that concern PWD. Nothing about us without us.

● That governmental policy is always based on sound, proven, transparently-communicated science.

● That the ADA be enforced with vigor, enthusiasm, and joy, calling attention to the United States’ current administration’s attacks on laws upholding rights for PWD.

● No budget cuts to Medicaid or Medicare.

● No budget cuts to organizations that support PWD.
