The Adopt an MP Training is all about giving you the confidence and practical skills to have a truly impactful conversation with your Member of Parliament. Together, we’ll explore how to frame the reality that climate change is already reshaping life across Australia in ways that connect deeply, make clear and compelling policy asks, and build constructive relationships with decision‑makers.
You’ll leave feeling prepared, supported, and ready to walk into an MP meeting with clarity and purpose—knowing your voice can help shape policy to keep our communities safe from climate change, and lower our energy bills with clean energy for everyone, for good. Thank you for advocating to our elected representatives: your voice will make all the difference.
What are we asking for?
The Renew Australia for All alliance of 80 organisations across community, health, environment, union, renewable industry, and faith groups has worked together to create ambitious plans to address the climate and cost of living crisis and ensure our communities are safe and thriving even as we face extreme weather.
The Energy Bill Savings plan
Our alliance is calling on our government to introduce minimum energy performance standards in rental properties, for example ceiling insulation and efficient, electric hot water systems, paired with protections for renters from rent increases and evictions. Right now, many renters live in homes that are too cold in winter and too hot in summer. Renters face higher energy costs, and indoor conditions that make them and their families sick. These changes are already on the government’s agenda and could have a transformative impact on the lives of renters across the country.
The Climate Safety plan
Climate change is already reshaping life across Australia, and the voices of those on the frontlines—renters, health workers, communities, union members and more—make this reality clear. These impacts are why, as part of the Renew Australia for All alliance, we’re calling for urgent, fair, and practical government action through our Climate Safety Plan. Together, we’re pushing for ambitious policy and investment to resource people and communities to prepare, adapt, and respond to climate impacts and disasters—ensuring no one is left behind or left to fend for themselves.
