Start: Monday, October 02, 2023• 7:00 PM
End: Monday, October 02, 2023• 8:30 PM
This October join us in Manchester to challenge greenwash.
Adfree Cities are coming to Manchester on 2nd of October 2023. We’re hosting an event in The Mechanics Institute on how councils can control high carbon advertising and promote positive, creative alternatives for more vibrant public spaces.
- How does advertising pollute our streets and our planet?
- How can our councils control high-carbon advertising?
- What would a fossil free Manchester look like?
Join us on Monday 2nd October 2023 at The Mechanics Institute, 103 Princess Street, M1 6DD, 7:00pm - 8:30pm for this free event.
We will be discussing the work of Adfree Cities and building a network of Adblock groups across the nation to combat the impacts of high carbon advertising. We will also be joined by Phil Korbel from the Carbon Literacy Project (speaking in a personal capacity), and Darren Cullen (Spelling Mistakes Cost Lives), the artist behind the Hell Bus who dissects greenwashing techniques through satire.
Attendance is free! Please register your place.
Also, please share with friends and on social media!
This event forms part of a tour taking the ‘Hell Bus’, a mobile exhibition with artwork dissecting greenwashing tactics, to university towns and cities across the UK, in collaboration with Switch It Green. Darren Cullen’s Hell Bus will be joining us as a public climate art exhibition to raise awareness around high carbon advertising and demonstrate positive, democratic, and creative use of city space. Come and see the Hell Bus at St. Ann's Square between the 1st and 4th October 2023.
