AFT's Health and Safety OSHA-10 Training for Local Leaders

The AFT'S OSHA-10 class will enable participants to promote workplace safety and health and to make workers more knowledgeable about workplace hazards and their rights under the law. Participants will receive an OSHA 10-hour course completion card issued by OSHA at the end of the training. Protect yourself and your students from harmful school conditions!

  • Who:  AFT Massachusetts Local Leaders and designees of local presidents
  • When: Thursday, August 21 from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm and Friday, August 22 from 8:30 am to 12 noon (participants must complete all 10 hours of training to receive the OSHA 10 certification)
  • Where: Boston Teachers Union

During the training participants will learn best practices to protect yourself, your students and workplace from harmful conditions. During the training participants will learn about:

  • Hazard recognition and avoidance, workers' rights, employer responsibilities, and how to file a complaint with OSHA/Massachusetts Workplace Safety and Health Program (WSHP). Participants will be issued an OSHA Codebook, and significant resources to address multiple job hazards throughout the school year.
