The rapid development of powerful AI systems presents complex and unique dangers to society. However, discussions about these threats are often inaccessible and dominated by influential actors who exaggerate hypothetical risks while downplaying real harms.

The DSA Tech Action Working Group hosts monthly AI Justice Political Education Nights to explore artificial intelligence through a socialist lens. These teach-ins/discussion groups will spotlight specific policy areas and legislative efforts related to tech justice. We will bring in guest speakers and collaborate with partner organizations to illuminate the real-world stakes of AI governance.

Our goal is to foster a vibrant, cross-disciplinary community. We aim to bridge knowledge gaps, encourage deep dialogue across fields, and advance equitable political education around AI, so we can collectively shape a just and democratic future in the age of AI.

This session's theme will be “NYPD's Mass Surveillance: The Domain Awareness System”.
