The Aldo Leopold Legacy Center, operated by the Aldo Leopold Foundation near Baraboo, WI, is recognized as one of the world's greenest buildings, having achieved LEED Platinum certification and being the first building to achieve operational carbon neutrality certified by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC). The center uses site-harvested wood from trees planted by the Leopold family, produces more than 100% of its annual energy needs through geothermal, natural ventilation, and solar power, and uses 70% less energy than a code-designed building.
SunDay is a global day of action on September 21st, 2025, celebrating the unstoppable rise of clean energy. We’ll come together to showcase the power of the sun and wind, the energy sources that can power our world without pollution.
