This year marks the 250th Anniversary of America’s Declaration of Independence and it should be a time to come together to celebrate all that we are, how far we’ve come, and commit to finishing the work to make America a place where freedom and equality are truly for all. BUT, the MAGA white supremacist faction is pushing our country in the opposite direction by whitewashing history so they can control our future. We must remember that this country was built on a foundation of enslavement and genocide so what we fail to repair, we repeat.
Get Free and partner organizations are calling for mobilizations on June 27th, the Saturday before America’s 250th birthday, to reject Trump’s attempt to whitewash our past, take a stand for all of our history, and commit to finishing the work to make this country truly equal for all.
We are inviting Americans of all stripes to come together in support of a country that lives up to its ideals, reckons with our whole history, and embraces the mosaic of all who call it home. Everyone can use some repair in community and what better way to come together and let our government know it really is ALL OF US!
This will be the biggest national day of action in the lead up to this historic anniversary for our country and will be a unifying call for all who want America to reckon with and repair our history rather than erase it, celebrate how far we’ve come, make America a place where freedom and equality are for all.
