Join Global Majority Greens for an online webinar exploring Venezuela’s resistance to imperial intervention and the continuing impact of the Monroe Doctrine and its modern “neo-Monroe” forms.
Hosted by Tariq Khawaja, we are pleased to be joined by Carolina Graterol, a Venezuelan journalist, filmmaker, and artist whose work bridges political reporting, documentary film, and participatory art practice.
Carolina’s career has taken her from the Middle East to Latin America and Europe, reporting on political conflict and its human consequences in places including Palestine, Kuwait, Egypt, and Venezuela. After years working in journalism, arts practice, and fundraising for solidarity organisations such as Medical Aid for Palestinians and projects supporting Saharawi refugees, she turned to documentary filmmaking to challenge dominant narratives—particularly those surrounding Venezuela.
In this webinar, Carolina will reflect on:
• Media narratives and misinformation about Venezuela
• The lived realities behind geopolitical intervention
• Venezuela’s struggle for sovereignty in a hostile international context
• The connections between imperialism, culture, and resistance
Drawing on her personal journey, journalistic work, and documentary practice, the session will offer an accessible and human-centred introduction to Venezuela’s ongoing struggle against foreign interference.
The event will include a talk followed by a moderated discussion and audience Q&A.
