Climate Café is a time to get together, talk about climate, and participate in community action.

Nancy LaPlaca, Third Act Energy & Climate Policy Consultant, will discuss why Third Act is focused on two types of «distributed» solar:

1.  Automated permitting for residential rooftop solar.

2.  Plug-in or balcony solar - why it’s a gateway to understanding the value of solar.

She will also talk about how these issues will play out in North Carolina, and when we can expect legislation to be considered by the NC General Assembly.

Nancy LaPlaca, J.D., has been working on utility reform and clean energy policies for 20 years across the U.S. Nancy spent years fighting coal and carbon sequestration, fracked gas, pipelines and fossil fueled power plants as an intervener and expert witness. Nancy is dedicated to an electricity system that serves the public interest rather than corporate monopoly utilities. Nancy worked for two members of Congress, served as a Policy Advisor to a Public Utilities Commissioner, and has worked for many nonprofits promoting clean energy.
