Join Maine DSA's Bangor Working group and the Bangor chapter of ACT UP! for our free screening of the documentary, The Ordinance Project. As Bangor experiences rising HIV and Hepatitis C cases, we need to organize and strategize ways to pressure our local officials to respond to the crisis in a meaningful way. The Ordinance Project tells the story of how ACT UP! Kansas City led a coalition to pass an ordinance to prohibit discrimination in housing, employment, and public accommodations based upon sexual orientation and HIV status. After the screening we will have a panel to explore the topics of the film and how we can utilize lessons learned by the organizers in Kansas City to our current efforts in Bangor.
