This Labor Day, September 4th, the Big Bend Labor Chapter will be hosting a donation drive for veterans and their families who are experiencing homelessness. The BBLC is partnering with Family Promise of the Big Bend- Supportive Services for Veterans and Families to try to give back to our community. We are asking for donations of goods listed below. We will also be accepting monetary donations, checks can be made out to Big Bend Homeless Coalition SSBVF. From 10:30-12:00 we will hold a public forum featuring local labor leaders and elected officials on the state of the labor movement in Florida. Union members and their friends and families are invited to stay for refreshments, RSVP to dthomas@flaflcio.org

MOST NEEDED ITEMS: Socks and undergarments, personal hygiene items, non-perishable food, pet food, rain gear, flashlights, gift cards, gallon sized zip lock bags, wipes (body or cleaning), re-useable water bottles, etc.

Public forum speakers to include: Representative Allison Tant, Commissioner Jeremy Matlow, Commissioner Jack Porter, AFSCME leader Althera Johnson, Rich Templin with the Florida AFL-CIO, and Eric Riley with Florida Education Association.
