Start: Wednesday, May 22, 2024 6:00 PM

End: Wednesday, May 22, 2024 7:30 PM

Bike Durham, Just Cities Collective, Aidilisms, and Durham Bicycle & Pedestrian Advisory Commission are excited to present BIKING WHILE BLACK: HOW SAFE ARE BLACK LIVES BICYCLING?, a documentary project that gathered stories of community members, advocates, community-based organizations, and city agencies around the topic of Black Lives bicycling in Los Angeles. The film includes conversations about over policing, historic disinvestment in infrastructure, racism, racial profiling, while also celebrating Black joy through cycling.

The screening of the video will be followed by a panel discussion with the filmmaker, Yolanda Davis-Overstreet, and three local Black bike riders - Simone Hamlett (shero for Black Girls Do Bike-Triangle chapter), Justin Laidlaw, and Derrick Beasley.

Food will be provided and on-site childcare and bike valet services will be available.
