People Power Solar Cooperative

Idaho Sierra Club is partnering with Club Community, Brown Like Me, Cut n Up Salon, Clēnera Solar, Empowered Solar, BUUF, and Snake River Alliance to host a fun and interactive workshop on community solar, and how we can bring more solar to low-income community members in Boise's West Bench and beyond.

Join us at this FREE family-friendly community event with delicious food, art activities, and important information!

Extreme heat and wildfire smoke are getting worse and power bills are going up every year. Low-income Black, Indigenous, and Latine communities are impacted more than others in Idaho. Rooftop solar power is a great way to address climate change, but it's usually only affordable for wealthy homeowners.

"Community solar" is a type of local solar power that can benefit EVERYONE by:

  • lowering power bills
  • building community wealth
  • reducing pollution
  • creating good jobs
  • making neighborhoods more resilient

We'll hear ideas about which community buildings in Boise could have a community solar project (including Club Community and the Cut n Up Salon where this event is taking place!) and start talking about how we can work together to make it happen. We need everyone's support, so come learn more and help create positive change in your community!
