Join us at the Boulder County Historic Courthouse on October 5 for a rally and press conference in support of the people of Boulder.
The City and County of Boulder, Colorado, are suing ExxonMobil and Suncor Energy to hold them accountable for concealing the dangers of their fossil fuel products and to make them pay for the resulting local climate damages, including more destructive fires, droughts, and extreme heat. Last year, the Colorado Supreme Court ruled that Boulder’s case should proceed toward trial.
Now, Big Oil wants the U.S. Supreme Court to stop the case before the people of Boulder have their day in court to present the evidence against Exxon and Suncor. On Monday, October 5, the U.S. Supreme Court will hear ExxonMobil and Suncor’s arguments to escape trial. Let’s use our voices in support of Boulder County residents and demand that they get their day in court.
Suncor and Exxon have known about the consequences of extracting and burning fossil fuels for more than 50 years, yet they continued to promote and sell their products. Colorado communities are now facing billions of dollars in infrastructure damage from extreme weather such as the devastating $2 billion Marshall Fire. Why should we shoulder these costs while companies like ExxonMobil and Suncor Energy continue to rake in record profits?
Let's come together to urge the Supreme Court to reject Exxon and Suncor’s efforts to escape trial for climate deception. Together we can send a strong message to the Supreme Court from Pearl Street: the people of Boulder deserve our day in court to hold Exxon and Suncor accountable.
