UK Friends of Standing Together is proud to host Amin Amara and Uri Weltmann, two members of the Standing Together leadership, for a speaking tour in the UK.
Standing
Together is a grassroots social movement based in Israel, which
mobilises Palestinian and Jewish citizens against war, occupation, and
racism, and for peace and equality. Since 7 October, it has been one of
the most prominent voices within Israel mobilising to demand a ceasefire
and hostage-release agreement. It organised a "Humanitarian Guard"
which defeated far-right settler attacks on aid convoys, and also
organised its own "Aid to Gaza" campaign. In recent weeks, Standing
Together has been on the streets consistently with its "Refuse War"
campaign, calling on Israeli citizens to refuse to kill or be killed in a
war that is being fought to keep Netanyahu in power.
Meet the speakers:
Amin
is a Palestinian citizen of Israel and a member of the national
leadership of Standing Together. He is the director of the Hebrew-Arabic
content and social media department. He has been with Standing Together
for over three years.
Uri
is a Jewish citizen of Israel, and the national field organiser for
Standing Together. He was a founding member of the movement in 2015. A
longtime peace and anti-occupation activist, he also has a background in
community organising and LGBT+ activism.
UK Friends of
Standing Together is part of a global network of supporters, working to
build practical solidarity with Standing Together's work, and amplify
their message and vision. We'll hear about Standing Together's
resistance to war, occupation, and racism, and the movement's struggle
for peace and equality. There'll be an opportunity to ask questions, and
discuss how we can organise to support Standing Together's efforts.
Alex Sobel MP, one of UK Friends of Standing Together's parliamentary patrons, will open the event.
The public entrance is marked as no. 5 on this map. Please try to arrive by 6:30pm to ensure you make it through Parliamentary security in time.
