Join Transbay Coalition on a group transit ride from San Jose to Big Basin Redwoods State Park, celebrating the improved bus services on Santa Cruz Metro Line 35B from Scotts Valley to the park entrance. We'll gather up at Diridon station to begin our journey.

1. MEET AT DIRIDON AT 11:15 AM - It takes about 2 hours to get from Diridon to Big Basin via transit, so we’ll be taking Bus 17 at 11:25. Detailed schedule is below.
2. PURCHASE YOUR TICKET FOR BUS 17 IN ADVANCE - Click here to download the Santa Cruz Metro Splash Pass App, where you can buy a day pass for Bus 17 in advance via the app. The ticket is $7 each way or $14 for a day pass, and you’ll need to scan your ticket to board the bus. If you don’t download the app, you’ll have to pay the bus driver in exact cash (no change given)
3. PACK LUNCH, WATER, AND SUN PROTECTION - Food will NOT be provided at this event so make sure you bring your own! Also, make sure you bring water and hats/sunscreen.

Besides the transit rides, the agenda for this event includes a group lunch in the forest followed by an easy walk/hike along the Redwood Loop Trail.

11:25am - Catch the 11:25 Bus 17 departure to Cavallaro Transit Center - arriving 12:11pm (link)

12:25pm - Catch the 12:25 Bus 35B departure to Big Basin - arriving 1:13pm (link)

1:15 - 1:45pm - Lunch in the forest! Make sure you have something to eat, and maybe something to sit on

1:45 - 3:00pm - Walk the Redwood Loop Trail (0.6 miles, flat and easy)

3:15pm - Catch the 3:15 Bus 35B departure to Cavallaro Transit Center - arriving 4:10 (link)

4:45 - Catch the 4:45 17 Bus departure to SJ Diridon, arriving 5:45pm (link)

If you’re interested in playing disc golf, pack a frisbee! There’s a disc golf course at Black Mouse that is 1hr via bus south of Big Basin on the Bus 35 line.
