On Wednesday (9/24) at 6:30 pm, Jewish Voice for Peace KC invites people of any or no faith to join us in protest, prayer and song for a high holiday tashlich ritual-protest. We will gather at Brush Creek across from Rep. Cleaver's office.
This sacred time of Rosh Hashanah & Yom Kippur demands that we
recommit to stopping Israel's genocide in Gaza and organize toward a
future of freedom and safety for Palestinians. The U.S. must stop funding the genocide. All Members of Congress, including Rep. Emanuel Cleaver II, must act now to Block the Bombs!
We urge Cleaver to immediately co-sponsor the Block the Bombs Act H.R. 3565 to stop the US sending the bombs, tank rounds and artillery shells that Israel is using to destroy life in Gaza.
While Cleaver says he hasn’t even read the 3-page bill, 49 others have signed on since it was introduced in June.
Tashlich details: We will gather in a grassy area next to Brush Creek on MLK Boulevard., across the street from Rep. Emanuel Cleaver II's Kansas City District Office (4001 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd.)
Park at the Post Office at 4320 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd and follow the sidewalk in the direction of Cleveland Avenue.
ACCESS ISSUE: While the majority of our program takes place on a flat, grassy area along a sidewalk, the tashlich ritual takes place at the stream, which is down a hill that may be too steep for those with mobility issues.
We invite those with mobility needs to take a handful of oats and hand it to one of our volunteers to take down to the stream. To join our group at the water, people with mobility challenges may take the sidewalk at the NE corner of MLK Boulevard and Cleveland Ave.
Send questions to kansascity@jewishvoiceforpeace.org. Visit linktr.ee/kcjvp for more ways to get involved, including an interest form to join our chapter.
If you have one more minute to spare, use this form to tell Cleaver to read and CO-SPONSOR the Block the Bombs Act: bit.ly/CleaverBTB
