The federal government continues escalating immigration enforcement infrastructure across the country. Alongside raids and surveillance programs, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) is increasingly purchasing or leasing warehouses, logistics facilities, and industrial buildings to expand detention, processing, and deportation operations. ICE has spent over $900M on these purchases, which would house anywhere from 1,000 - 10,000 people, depending on the scale of the building. But local communities are not powerless.
As we’re seeing in Oklahoma, Virginia, Georgia, and across the country, there’s a lot we can do to stop these projects. After all, cities and counties control zoning approvals, building permits, public safety cooperation, public subsidies and tax agreements, and relationships with contractors.
Join our call to learn more about these campaigns and how you can stop ICE growing in your community.
