Candidate Hustings

To maintain our democratic foundations, members of local Green Parties have the right to select their target candidates to contest local elections under the Green Party banner.

We have two candidates that have been successfully vetted by your Committee and wish to be considered as target candidates:

Jay Leah¹
Kirsty Mackinlay
Dee Boyce²
Andy Miller (TBC)

On 7th December at 7pm the membership is invited to an online hustings, to listen to statements from both candidates and ask any questions they see fit. Members will then be able to vote online³ on whether to accept each candidate, using the Single Transferrable Vote system.

Notes:

1: As per the local party's constitution, as Jay Leah has been a member for less than one year, his candidacy is supported by Stephen Caudwell and Antony Lowe. Both have been members for over two years.

2: As per the local party's constitution, as Dee Boyce has been a member for less than one year, her candidacy is supported by Shahin Ashraf and Jean Hamilton. Both have been members for over two years.

3: Although the event is open to all in the interests of transparency, only current members of Solihull Green Party are eligible to vote. As part of the procedures we will check the membership status of all attendees against our records prior to any voting taking place. Non-members will be managed appropriately (by e.g being placed into the Meeting Room's lobby) during voting procedures.
