NA For Change presents the Second Annual Caravan For Change

Start: Sunday, June 13, 2021 2:00 PM

End: Sunday, June 13, 2021 4:15 PM

One year ago, NA For Change kickstarted their campaign for change by calling attention to issues regarding diversity, equity, inclusion, and antiracism in the community. Their Caravan for Change brought together the community and demonstrated solidarity with the broader efforts to fight the scourge of racism and its effects on communities. Since then, we have continued to unite students, educators, alumni, and parents through various initiatives including the release of a petition, detailed and concrete proposals, community outreach, and consistent student-led advocacy at school board meetings. Our supporters are the driving force of the change we have begun to see in this community.

NA For Change is hosting their second annual Caravan for Change on Sunday, June 13 at 2 PM at the Overlook Pavilion at Knob Hill Community Park (415 Knob Rd, Wexford, PA 15090). Their second annual Caravan for Change will reflect on the past year and set a vision for the second year of their efforts. With a wide array of speakers, collaborative art projects, and ways to get involved in creating a more inclusive North Allegheny School District and in the broader Pittsburgh community, the Caravan will highlight the ongoing initiatives in creating spaces that reflect the diversity of our community. The Caravan will end with a procession through the main streets of the Wexford area to bring attention to NA For Change’s mission of placing the issues of diversity, inclusion, and antiracism at the forefront of the community’s attention while advocating for the implementation of a set of immediate and tangible solutions to positively benefit the community and its students. Please feel free to bring your car decorated for the event with signage!

In addition, to celebrate the end of the NA For Change Children’s Book Drive, there will be a storytime session for families at 1:30 PM at the Knob Hill Park playground down the hill from the pavilion with a few hand-selected books donated through the drive. We hope that these stories encourage productive conversations about celebrating and valuing our differences with families in the community. We would like to thank everyone who contributed to this book drive!

Lastly, safety and security are our top priorities. We are cooperating with the Northern Regional Police Department to ensure that the caravan portion of our event is safe and orderly. We take COVID-19 precautions very seriously and, in line with the most recent guidance, will not require masks to be worn if the attendee has been fully vaccinated. If you have felt symptoms of COVID-19 in the past month, we ask that you please stay home and join us and our efforts virtually for the time being. If you have any questions regarding this event, please contact us at contact@naforchange.org. See you there!

This event is sponsored by NA For Change.
