In the fight against state terror, state prisons and county jails function as a warehouse to repress and extract labor from our poorest people, most often targeting poor Black and brown people. When our people exit this warehouse, we believe no one should walk out of jail alone.
Join the crew at Anti Police-Terror Project, Decarcerate Sacramento, and SURJ Bay Area to learn about Jail Support—a community-powered program grounded in mutual aid and abolition where we show up to offer warmth, resources, and connection at the jailhouse gates when our people are released from police custody.
WHERE:
- The People's House: 893 Willow Street, Oakland, CA
- The Breathe Building: 909 12th Street, Sacramento, CA
- This is a hybrid event, so you can join us online! RSVP for zoom link.
Across Santa Rita and Sacramento, we’re building a unified system of on-the-ground response, shared supplies, and presence rooted in love, healing, and accountability. Whether it’s water, food, clean clothes, or simply being seen, we meet folks with the care and dignity they deserve. This isn’t charity—this is community defense.
Want to show solidarity, but unsure where to start? Come through to learn how you can join APTP and our amazing coalition of organizational partners as we connect community members impacted by incarceration and share resources in solidarity with people getting out of jail.
Meeting space and restroom are wheelchair accessible. Masks and covid tests will be required and also provided for free.
OAKLAND ATTENDEES: Street parking is available next to the building and adjacent streets. Please be mindful of our neighbors who live here.
SACRAMENTO ATTENDEES: Free parking is available in the adjacent parking outside the Jack Danes auto shop after 5pm. Additional metered parking along I and J streets is also available. Bike storage is available inside the Breathe Building.
