Chicago, Bike Grid Now! Jammiversary

Start: Saturday, June 10, 2023 5:30 PM

Chicago, Bike Grid Now! are celebrating one year of activism, community, and bikes! This rolling bike party + protest will take off from six different neighborhoods or you can meet us in the Loop. We will Bike Bus as a group through the city before jamming it up in the Loop.

Bike Buses are ~10mph group rides, marshals will be on the ride to cork traffic. The Bike Jam in the Loop will be a 4mph Bike Party + Protest as we collectively call attention to the need for safe streets across Chicago. The jam will keep getting bigger and bigger as each bus rolls in.

We will be running SIX bike buses to the Loop, all will be departing at 5:45pm:

  • Lakeview - Jonquil Park - Sheffield & Wrightwood
  • Wicker Park - Ehrler Park - 2229 W Cortland St
  • West Loop - Park #578 - Washington & Wolcott
  • Pilsen - Dvorak Park - Carpenter & 20th
  • Bridgeport - Sintic Park - 28th & Wallace
  • Hyde Park - Kenwood Park - 49th and S Kenwood Ave

Chicago, Bike Grid Now is calling on the city to implement a network of safe residential streets with safe streets infrastructure on at least 10% of streets. Join us in the fight for safer streets for all! Learn more at bikegridnow.org

The need for safe streets infrastructure across Chicago is undeniable as our communities and families grapple with over 100 people killed in traffic crashes so far this year, including over 30 pedestrians and cyclists. Inequity and policy failure in housing, public transit access, environmental protection, and so many other quality of life indicators worsen in our city. The world is facing a climate crisis that requires drastic action. What Chicago needs is a bike grid, not gridlock.
