Cedar Rapids Climate March

Start: Saturday, April 29, 2017 4:30 PM

Emissions from gas and coal power plants, transportation and agricultural practices pose a grave risk to our health, climate, environment and security. They threaten the sacred air we breathe, the water we drink, and the land and oceans that sustain us.

For 30 years our political and economic leaders knew our actions were destabilizing the climate. Left unchecked the damage will worsen and persist for millennia. Despite this knowledge, our leaders allowed and encouraged these emissions to continue. We have a moral obligation, and our leaders have an additional constitutional obligation to preserve and protect our common natural resources for us, our children and generations to come.

Join us in Cedar Rapids for the People's Climate March on April 29, 2017 at 4:30PM at Greene Square Park (305 5th Street SE, Cedar Rapids, IA 52401). March to declare that our constitutional and public trust rights have been violated. March to demand that our leaders cease violating these rights. March to call on our leaders to develop and enact a comprehensive plan to reduce emissions and urgently begin to restore our climate and environment.
