March marks the anniversary of The Great Postal Strike of 1970. To commemorate the historic moment, APWU President Jonathan Smith is hosting a livestream at 7 p.m. ET/4 p.m. PT on Tuesday, March 10. The hour-long livestream will recount that momentous day and the events that led up to the strike. Hear from members who took part in the strike, and the perspective of its impact from today's young members.
APWU Live is bringing together the men and women who were there — the strikers themselves — for a live, unscripted conversation about what they risked and what they want the next generation of postal workers to know.
APWU young members will join the call for a panel discussion with strikers, so that we can emphasize that this strike is not history, the fights these brave workers fought is still alive and a threat today. Postal workers pension, health coverage, and especially our right to bargain — all of it was won at this strike.
