Chicago Shoe Strike (FFF Chicago)

Start: Saturday, July 25, 202012:00 PM

Background:

Friday's for Future is a movement started by Greta Thunberg and other young activists after they sat in front of the Swedish parliament every school day for three weeks, to protest against the lack of action on the climate crisis. Since then, Friday's for Future has hosted weekly strikes all around the world to create a better future. FFF Chicago will be hosting a shoe strike on July 25 to combat the climate crisis. The climate crisis must not be forgotten. We want everyone to realize the extent of what is happening. Now we have a great opportunity to change. Since we are not allowed to meet, we will substitute shoes for people. We also want  the campaign to receive media attention. The strike supports FFF's goals to stop climate destruction. Listen to the researchers. Flyers / signs for single-issue organizations within the climate and political organizations, risking removing focus from the climate issue, are not allowed.

What to bring:

A pair of old shoes, A face mask for protection, and a small sign to place by the shoes (optional).

How to participate:

On the date and time shown, come to Pritzker Park with your supplies, and place them on the ground among the other shoes and signs. Be sure to practice social distancing when you come up to the location. You may come back 1 hour later (1:00 PM CST) to pick up your shoes if you wish, or you can leave the shoes there if you want to donate them. All shoes will be dropped off at the nearest Soles4Soles donation center.
