April 7th Capital Project Budget Retreat!
It all comes down to the budget... This Capital Budget Retreat is our opportunity to encourage the City Council to advocate for funding the key 3 capital projects and additional transportation positions at the City to support Martin Ince (City Multi-Modal Planner). Communities such as Boulder, CO, have 10+ staff members, and the City of Flagstaff has a team of 1... It's time we start fixing this.
The three projects we hope to see funded are:
- Protected intersection at Butler & Beaver
- Protected intersection at Butler & San Francisco
- Elevating the Butler Bike Pilot Lanes to the height of the sidewalk creating 10' FUTS corridors on both sides of the street (better for cyclists, drivers, and maintenance)
Protected intersections are designed to place pedestrians' and cyclists' comfort and safety needs first. The Active Transportation Master Plan (ATMP) identifies these two intersections as being hot spots for crashes with bike/ped. The implementation of Protected Intersections will likely reduce the number of crashes tremendously.
Understanding that most won't be able to attend the full-day Capital Retreat on Friday, you can email the council (Council@flagstaffaz.gov) and/or join us at the Council Retreat (in person or virtually) on the 7th. Public comment is at the end of the agenda for those who want to attend the retreat.
*To show your support, let us know you plan on attending by filling out the form on the right! *
