As climate change and pollution continue to affect our environment, air quality has become a growing concern. Poor indoor and outdoor air quality can increase the risk of respiratory illnesses, worsen asthma and allergies, and contribute to heart and lung problems. These impacts are especially harmful for vulnerable groups such as children, older adults, and individuals with existing health conditions. Taking steps to improve the air we breathe at home and in our communities is an important way to protect our health and build resilience.

The Fairmount Corridor – Dorchester, Roxbury, Mattapan, and Hyde Park – experiences some of the worst air quality in the city of Boston. It is essential for residents to be prepared with the knowledge and resources to protect themselves and improve the air we breathe — and we're here to help!

Join the Fairmount Indigo CDC Collaborative, Air Partners, and Southwest Boston CDC for an engaging, hands-on community workshop where we will explore the importance of clean air and its impact on our health and well-being. Together, we’ll learn simple, affordable ways to improve air quality at home, and each attendee will get to build their very own air purifier.

Each participant will receive free supplies to build one DIY air purifier (limited to the first 25 RSVPs on a first-come, first-served basis) and will be instructed on how to build, maintain, and replace your filter. This workshop is a great opportunity to gain practical skills and knowledge, connect with community members, and take home a resource that will make a real difference in your home’s air quality.

Light dinner and refreshments will be provided.

Space is limited! RSVP today to secure your spot! (1 purifier per RSVP’d person) Out of respect for your neighbors, please RSVP only if you are certain you will be able to attend the event. This form will close after 35 people RSVP (25 attendees + 10 people for a waitlist) to ensure we have enough supplies for everyone.

We hope to see you there!
