PLEASE NOTE: CHANGE OF VENUE TO FUMBALLY STABLES, FUMBALLY LANE, DUBLIN 8, D08 HFF2.

As activists, we need to be more resourceful than the fossil fuel industry, than the vested interests who have money, time and the luxury of wasting both. Everything we do needs to be efficient. So if we are running an event, how do we make sure the media knows about it? How do we make sure our hard work pays off and we get the outcome we want?

In this workshop, Niall Sargent of GreenNews.ie will talk about what makes an effective press release. Experienced NGO staff members and activists will talk about their experience dealing with the media, and will guide you through best practice. By the end of the workshop, you will leave:

  1. Knowing how to craft an effective press release
  2. Understanding how the media consumes the information we provide, and how to most effectively ensure a high chance of getting your message in print and online media
  3. Feeling confident speaking to the media at actions
