On Thursday 20th and Saturday 22nd November Extinction Rebellion Wimborne will stand on the pedestrian bridge over the River Allen (near Wimborne library) to mark COP30 by amplifying the voices of the Global South.
Did you know the Global South has contributed only 8% of greenhouse gas emissions historically yet is suffering the most from climate change? (Hickel, Jason, The Lancet Planetary Health, Volume 4, Issue 9, e399 - e404).
Drought, crop failure and famine. Cyclones and mudslides. Heatwaves and sea level rise. Developing countries need large injections of cash (grants not interest bearing loans) to help them cut greenhouse gas emissions, to cope with the impacts of extreme weather, and to provide compensation for the irreparable damage they are already suffering.
