Summer forecasts are once again predicting extreme weather – very heavy rains, risk of severe bushfires in eastern states, and night times that don’t bring relief from the heat.
Climate change is already reshaping life in Australia. We see it when heatwaves make our homes, schools, and workplaces unsafe. When doctors and nurses are stretched thin responding to climate shocks. When disasters disrupt travel and supply chains, driving up prices at the checkout. And when floods, fires, and storms fuel homelessness, financial stress, and long-term harm to our health and wellbeing.
It’s time for our government to face this head on. Albanese’s Labor Government have signalled they want to act – but it’s up to us to raise their ambition to meet the scale of the crisis.
That’s why, in alliance with 80 organisations, we are launching a bold, people-powered push for climate-safe, resilient communities: the Climate Safety Plan — and we’d love for you to be part of it.
